"Brooklyn's New Star" –The New York Post
Being the gay, black kid at a mostly white christian school led to me feeling constantly left out and different. It took listening to artists like Whitney Houston, LeAnn Rimes, Tracy Chapman, and Lauryn Hill to realize my “differences” were beautiful and God had given me a gift in music. I learned to live and breathe music and finally found my place and voice through writing my own songs.
I consider my music a blend of pop, soul and country and hope to integrate other genres as my music develops: focusing on how the lyrics of a song can tell a story that connects people and incites change.
Since my move to Brooklyn, I have performed at some of the most iconic music venues in NY, including The Bowery Electric, Rockwood Music Hall, Fat Baby, and The Bitter End and was named "Brooklyn's New Star" by The New York Post.
Influences include (but are not limited to): John Mayer, Joni Mitchell, LeAnn Rimes, Kacey Musgraves, Tori Kelly, Solange, Patty Griffin, Frank Ocean, Dolly Parton, Justin Timberlake, Amos Lee, Tracy Chapman, & Ms. Lauryn Hill.
