Fast Car by Tracy Chapman

I’ve had so many people tell me I sound a lot like Tracy Chapman so I decided to post a video of me singing Fast Car. Growing up, my mom and I would listen to this song over and over again. It has always been one of my favorites and is a great example of excellent songwriting.

People Talk by Micah Woods

This was the first song I wrote after graduating college. I felt as if I finally knew who I was and who I wanted to be as an artist. By embracing all the opinions people had of me, it helped me to gain power over being persuaded by what people think of me and to allow myself to really embrace who I am.

Cigarette Love by Micah Woods

This video was taken at one of my first NYC gigs at Rockwood Music Hall. I wrote this song in college and it was one of those experiences where the words just came pouring out of me. All in all it took me about 15 minutes to write and has always been a crowd favorite and frequently requested song at my live shows.

Another War by Micah Woods

I wrote this song at the beginning of the #blacklivesmatter movement. It seems like every day its meaning gains more power and there was a big part of me that was scare to show it with the world. Well I’m tired of living in fear and am ready to let my songs reach more people and hopefully create some change.

Embrace The Crazy by Micah Woods

This song is inspired by a true story. I was on my way to St. Louis when this lady came and sat down next to me at the airport and shared her entire life story. A big part of carrying around a guitar with you is having people share their stories with you. I am a great listener and love to turn those experiences into songs.

Jordan by Micah Woods

I recorded this video when I first reached 1,000 likes on Facebook. This song was a favorite while playing shows in college and I still get requests for it today. It’s definitely one of the happiest songs I’ve written.
